Finally made some time to collect some older pics I took earlier.

These are all from the gallery "Old Times" and show us some images
of old buildings.

St Jan Cathedral
St Jan Cathedral

In 1210 the first incarnation of the cathedral was build.
In 1380 the current version was started, and finished in 1530.

The cathedral is the seat of the bishopry of Brabant.

Dimensions: 115m x 62m x 73m

Grote Hekel
Grote Hekel

An old watergate into town, they were also closed to keep the town from flooding when the surrounding countryside was flooded in spring.

This is also where some of the tours on the Binnen Dieze starts.

Nice looking building.
Nice looking building.

Fire Department
Fire Department

This is where the fire department used to be housed.

Bloated
Bloated

This restaurant looks kinda bloated. Well, maybe not on this picture, but in real life it does. The outer wall curves inwards the lower to the ground it gets.

This wasn't bad building! No! They had a plan!

In them days they didn't have gutters, so to keep the rain off the walls, the building the walls like this.

Groot Ziekengasthuis
Groot Ziekengasthuis

One of the tree hospitals in town. This one, my favorite, in the center of town.

The building in the back is the main, and more modern part of the hospital. This bit houses the bood lab, the eye, throat, nose doctors and such.

Pawn shop
Pawn shop

The old pawn shop, or "bank van lening".

Now seems to be a squaters residence.

The old Red Light District
The old Red Light District

This used to be the street where women where sitting in the window selling their goods.

You know, I have no idea where they have gone.

Azijnfabriek
Azijnfabriek

The Vinegar Factory, the cultural center, was orginally housed in an vinegar cask factory, but is now housing in the old St Jacobs church, or what is left of it.

St Jozef
St Jozef

This house stands on the corner of the Hinthamerstraat and the St Jozefstraat and has a nice statue of St. Jozef.

Old hospital gate
Old hospital gate

This used to be a gate into the hospital, but has been abandonded.

My father told me that when he was young, people meding medications had to collect them from the small window in the left.

Remnants of St Peter
Remnants of St Peter

This is a remnant of the st Peter's church, where my parents were married.
